Pre-clearance fauna surveys, delivered by field ecologists.
Fauna Spotters delivers pre-clearance fauna surveys and targeted breeding-place inspections for civil, renewables, mining and infrastructure projects Australia-wide. Reports are formatted for direct submission to state authorities and inform your Fauna Management Plan.
What's included
Our pre-clearance surveys combine daytime habitat assessment, targeted species searches, breeding-place inspection (hollow trees, burrows, nests) and mapped waypoints for every significant find.
- Habitat suitability assessment for listed species
- Targeted searches for EVNT, threatened and migratory species
- Hollow-bearing tree inspection with hand-held camera or spotlight
- Breeding-place register with GPS coordinates and photos
- Report formatted for Environmental Authority or Development Consent submission
When to schedule it
A pre-clearance survey is usually scheduled within the 5 business days immediately before vegetation removal, in line with common Environmental Authority conditions. For larger clearing envelopes we can run rolling surveys across multiple staging areas.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a pre-clearance survey take?
Most sites are surveyed in 1–2 days per 10 ha of clearing envelope. Complex habitat, large hollow trees or threatened species detections extend the field time and are quoted transparently.
Do you supply the ecologist's CV with the report?
Yes. Every deliverable is signed by the surveying ecologist and CV/licence copies are supplied on request for the compliance file.
